And I say that as someone who has been creating fan fiction for 15 years.
No matter what IP I work with, I'm proud when readers say that my work remains largely within the confines of an established character's mannerisms, behavior, and personality. On the very rare occasion which I don't (Letters) it is because the out-of-character behavior is the primary driving force in a comedic effort.
I can not state how much this pleases me. Midnight Mares has been one of the projects that I've waited for since I first became a brony. A series about magical talking horses, not owned by hasbro, with a darker and more serious story line. I mean can it really get any better then that? (Well if Fallout Equestria became a movie...) I am so stoked for the future of this project. The second I saw a giant undead horse being controlled by a necromancer pony, I was sold on this idea. Further more,

I'm still not seeing the ZOMG, THE HORRORZ fan-rage. Keeps being a decent show if one clearly in the shadow of a titan.
Making Murphy a brunette of all damn things just keeps being weird, though. Was a bottle of blond dye really a bank buster? Except that one details she's quite decent, so it just baffles me they got something so small but obvious wrong.
Yes, I finished Ginga already, it's only 12 episodes.
I was told beforehand this series is apparently considered boring. I can see why, as it's rather atypical in many ways. But I didn't find it that boring. Anyway, let's get into this:
